  • U.S. Air Force Airman Adrielle M. Blessing recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

    She completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

    She is the daughter of Billie Simmons of Taylorsville and Karen Hardy of La Grange.

    She is a 2009 graduate of Spencer County High School in Taylorsville.

  • Oldham County Police Department officers Thomas Hood and Sarah King, along with law enforcement officers from 11 other agencies across the state, graduated Friday from basic training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training.

  • A Community Thanksgiving Service is scheduled 6 p.m. Sunday at River Valley Christian Church, 12650 U.S. 42 in Prospect. 

    The event will be hosted by Faith Community Church, First Baptist Church Prospect, River Valley Christian Church, and North Oldham Baptist Church. 

    There will be a dessert fellowship immediately following the service.

  • Boy Scouts of America  Troop 109 of Prospect will host a 75th reunion for all scouts, former scouts, leaders and others who have been involved over its 75 years.

    The reunion takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, the troop’s home base. 

    The program will include hors d’oeuvres, a PowerPoint presentation and guest speakers.

  • Jason Davis and Angella Anderson-Davis announce the birth of their daughter, Faith Marie Davis on Aug. 28, 2009 at University Hospital in Louisville. She weighed 6 pounds and 3 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Steve and Marcie Anderson of Crestwood and Glen and Cathy Davis of Gorham, Maine. 

  • At 10 a.m. Saturday, La Grange Church of God will host a men's prayer breakfast and Bible study, called “Lifebuilders.”

    At 9 a.m. Nov. 17, the church will host a women's Bible study called "Women of Faith."

  • As dogs in Briar Hill subdivision enjoy homemade biscuits, homeless pets receive the help they need. 

    10-year-old Madison Jones, her younger brother, Parker, and her friend, Cassie Lund, have been baking and selling dog biscuits to raise money for the Animal Care Society.

    Madison said she’s always loved animals. For her ninth birthday, she asked that in lieu of gifts guests bring items to donate to the animal shelter. 

  • Gene and Carol Raulston of La Grange announce the engagement of their grandson, Cameron Raulston to Cara Montgomery, daughter of Gary and Pam Montgomery of Bardstown. 

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Campbellsville University and is employed as a first-grade teacher at Kentucky Christian School. 

    The groom-elect is a 2006 graduate of Oldham County High School and a senior at Campbellsville University. He is the son of Pat Giles.

    A wedding will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at Bardstwn Baptist Church with Todd Parish officiating.

  • Saint Xavier High School graduate and Transylvania University first-year Luke Meredith plays the roles of Gertrude and a Poisoner in Transylvania’s production of Tom Stoppard’s brilliant comedy “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.” 

    The play opens Nov. 5 in the Lucille C. Little Theater at Transylvania.
