    Builder David Landis boasts the Louisville area’s first home certified by the National Association of Home Builders Green Home Building Certification program. It is one of only about 120 homes nationwide certified to meet the strict guidelines for the building from the construction process onward. The home looks normal enough, but is rated to be $1,500 cheaper to heat and cool than comparable homes.

    Landis said building a home like this is not only the way of the future, but just the right thing to do.

All you have to do is remain a baby in the faith, allow yourself to be subject to trickery, become intrigued with each new theology-of-the-day, and then you will become easy prey for deceitful scheming by others.     She never thought this day would come, at least not in her lifetime, but she’s sure glad she did. Tuesday Ida Mae Beaumont saw a man with her shade of skin sworn-in as president.

    “I’m thankful that I lived to see a black president,” the 75-year-old Ida Mae Beaumont said.

  • Right or Righteous

     It is a powerful scene – Jesus is hanging on a cross with two criminals on either side. All of Jesus’ enemies are gathered around taunting him, daring him to come down off the cross and show them he is the Messiah. In agony he looks down upon the crowd below, and speaks the words that set in motion the pattern that will always be followed by his disciples when they are persecuted. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).

    Baptist Hospital Northeast recently hosted an essay and drawing contest for Oldham County students.

    In the kindergarten through second grade drawing division, Payton Herold, a second-grader at Camden Station Elementary earned first place for her drawing.

  • Anniversary Announcement

    Carl and Annabelle Rogers celebrated 74 years of marriage on Dec. 22, 2008. The couple, who live in La Grange, are the parents of Ida (Keith) Hall and the late Mary Doty. 

    They celebrated with their three grandchildren, Dotty (Steve) Sparrow, John Doty, and Roger Doty and their six great-grandchildren.

    Whitney Leanhart, a fifth-grader at La Grange Elementary, got her hair cut for the second time in order to benefit Locks Of Love. About 10 to 12 inches was cut off.
