  • Norton Commons Farmers Market opens April 4

    The Norton Commons Farmers Market opens for the season April 4.  In addition to seasonal produce, the market sells grass-fed beef, certified organic poultry and vegetables, pork and sausage, lamb, pasture-raised eggs, baked goods, honey,  jams and preserves, native perennials and other potted plants, cool-season vegetable and perennial plants, herb plants, bedding plants and hanging baskets. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through Nov. 7. The market is located at 9420 Norton Commons Blvd., Prospect.

  • Inviting God Into the Affairs of People

     In each of Paul’s letters to new Christian churches in the New Testament there is a section praying for the congregation. For example, in Colossians 1:9-14 Paul prays the people will have wisdom and understand God’s will, that they will have endurance and patience and be filled with joyful thanksgiving for the salvation, redemption and forgiveness of sins they have received through Jesus Christ. In the Christian faith we call this intercessory prayer, that is, prayer for others.

  • Faith Community Church hosts Marriage Enrichment conference

     Faith Community Church will host Marriage Enrichment Weekend, a two-day conference, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, designed to help couples build a healthy and vibrant marriage. The conference, held at Gingerwoods Event Hall at 7611 Rose Island Road in Prospect, will teach couples how to experience deep spiritual, emotional, and sexual intimacy within their marriage.

  • 17 attend hymn sing

    Buckner Christian Church hosted the Oldham County Hymn Sing Feb. 19.  There were 17 folks there and eight churches represented. Bro. David Warren from the church gave a hearty welcome and had the evening prayer. Bro. Jim Shaw from Grace Baptist lead the singing. Marvin Dawson picked his guitar. We sang “Glory to His Name” and “Blessed Assurance.” We didn’t have a piano player.

  • Oldham native participates in President Obama’s inauguration

    U.S. Air National Guard Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Brumback participated in the 56th Presidential Inauguration Jan. 20 as part of the largest-ever contingent of National Guard members to serve in Washington, D.C. More than 7,000 U.S. Army and Air National Guard members from 31 states and territories provided the 2009 Presidential Inauguration with military working dogs, consequence management planning, and ceremonial, logistics, and medical support through the Armed Forces Inaugural Committee.
