  • Shockey Anniversary

    Dorsa and Jean Bell Shockey of LaGrange will celebrate 65 years of marriage on September 11, 2013. They were united in marriage in LaGrange at DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church and are long-term residents of LaGrange.

    They have four children: Viki Morris, Alana Alsbrooks, Jamie Shockey and Mark Shockey. They also have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

    Brad Whitehouse of Pewee Valley and Ellen and Cecil Robak of Milton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Crystal Whitehouse to Brandan Summerlin, son of Bob and Shelley Summerlin, Eminence.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Trimble County High School. She is currently attending Indiana University Southeast and is employed as a server with Wild Eggs and in hospitality at Westport Place Health Campus.

    John and Kathleen Carter of LaGrange celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on Sunday, August 4, 2013.  John and Kathleen were married at Dehaven Memorial Baptist Church in LaGrange on Saturday, August 4, 1967.  Kathleen is a 1964 graduate of Oldham County High School and a retired  teacher; John is the Oldham County Attorney.  They have two children, Matthew and Adam and five grandchildren, Joshua, Cameron, Justin, Kaden and Addison.

  • Williams–Cunningham

    Don E. Williams and Miranda Frances Jordan, both of Oldham County, announce the engagement of their daughter, Marisa Giselle Williams, to Shannon W. Cunningham, son of Wayne Cunningham of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Judy Cunningham of Waynesville, N.C.

    The bride-elect attended the Walden School and the University of Louisville. She works at the Don Williams Law Office in La Grange, and is campaign re-election manager for Oldham County Attorney John Carter.

  • Family celebrates five generations

    Margaret Mathis recently celebrated the five generations of her family. Above, she is pictured seated with daughter Doris Mathis Wood, grandson Steve Wood, great-granddaughter Jennifer Wood Whitman and great-great-grandson Charlie Whitman. Mrs. Mathis, Doris Wood and Steve Wood were longtime residents of La Grange. Margaret now lives in New Castle and will celebrate her 95th birthday in September. Doris now lives in Schertz, Texas, and Steve lives in San Antonio, Texas. Jennifer and Charlie live in Newnan, Ga.

    Tony and Gail Rogers of New Castle announce the engagement of their daughter, Shelly Faye Rogers, to Justin “Cooter” Roberts, son of Larry and Cindy Roberts of Louisville.

    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Harriett Phillips and the late Sylvester Phillips and Aver Mae and Jesse Lee Rogers. She is a 1997 graduate of Shelby County High School and owner of Painting by Shelly.

  • Hopper–Burgin

    Tachelle Banfield Hopper announces her engagement to Tommy Burgin.

    The bride-elect is a 1987 graduate of Sullivan University with a degree in Paralegal Studies, and is the mother of Augustus and McMillan Ludwick.

    The groom-to-be is a 1995 graduate of Oldham County High School and is employed in Shelby-ville. He is the father of P.J., Jessie and T.T. Burgin.

    The couple will marry at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, in Louisville. Invitations have been mailed.
