    Health department wellness series

    The Oldham County Health Department will host the following: The New Definitions of Wellness Series with Dr. Carl Paige of Paige Primary Care Center at the Oldham County Health Department, 1786 Commerce Parkway, La Grange 40031, Tuesday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m.

    Topic: Heart Health: Prevention and treatment of cardiac disease with nutrition and lifestyle.

  • Wine and Canvas at St. James Episcopal

    The Episcopal Church Women of St. James’ Episcopal Church will be hosting a Wine & Canvas Event at St. James’ Gleason Hall on Wed., Feb. 5 from 6 -9 p.m.. This is a fun, social, group setting with an artist to guide you step by step in replicating the night’s featured painting.

    By the end of the evening you will create a fabulous piece of artwork, just in time for Valentine’s Day!

    Singers needed

    The Oldham County Singers have resumed spring rehearsals at the Oldham County Schools Arts Center and are currently looking for Tenors and Basses. Men, if you love to sing and have some knowledge of choral singing, we welcome you to join us. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at the Arts Center (247B) from 7 to 8:30 pm. The

    choir is under the direction of Melissa Weaver and will be preparing for a 15 year anniversary concert. No tryouts necessary. Please contact Debbie DePaull at 241-6493 or Octa Kellond at 241-6806 for more information.

  • Event benefitting several charities

     

    Prospect area “stars” are busy putting the finishing touches on their ballroom dance routines as part of a fundraising effort for six local charities and the Prospect Area Chamber of Commerce.

    On Feb. 9 at the Mellwood Arts Center in Louisville each star will perform their routines choreographed and perfected by professionals from Derby City Ballroom over the course of 12 weeks. During that time, each star is raising money for an area charity. Dancing With the Prospect Stars involves the following individuals and charities:

  • Library, history center host genealogy workshop

    Want to begin your family tree, but don’t know how? To get you started, the Oldham County Public Library is partnering with the Oldham County History Center for a free Genealogy Workshop on Feb. 5. Participants, whether beginners or advanced researchers, will learn about the latest technology available to them at the Library. They will also have a chance to learn what local resources are available to them through the archived collections and family files at the History Center.
