  • Relay for Cuteness Contest

    Think you have the cutest baby or pet around? 

    The Era is sponsoring a contest to raise funds for Relay For Life.

    Winning babies will be selected in two age categories: birth to 1 year and under 3 years old. All pets are eligible.

    Each entry costs $5 and can be dropped off or mailed to The Era. We prefer emailed photos; however, payment will need to be sent seperately.

  • Concert series complements New Harmonies exhibit

    The Oldham County History Center will host New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music March 1 through April 21.

    This exhibit is part of the Museum on Main Streets program that is a partnership between the Kentucky Humanities Council and the Smithsonian Institute.  

    New Harmonies is a cultural history of America’s musical landscape. It’s the story of a diverse assortment of people interacting with a new world, where cultures and customs met, mixed, mingled and created new sounds.

    A new project by Apple Patch is providing unique opportunities for adults with autism.

    The Autism Center at Apple Patch opened in early January in Crestwood Station and is at 50 percent capacity already, said Joe Spoelker, director of development and marketing.

  • Local veterans participate in Massing of the Colors

    Oldham County Post 39 of The American Legion participated in the 2011 Massing of the Colors and Veterans Day Parade in Louisville on Friday.

    Gene Crady, carries the U. S. Flag; Chester Fust, carries the American Legion flag; and Howard Griffin (in his Master Sergeant uniform) carries the Prisoner of War flag.

    The Project Guild of La Grange selected Jean Schumm as grand marshal of the Oldham County Day Parade. Schumm is the founder and heartbeat of Operation: Parent.

  • Event promotes the needs of neglected children

    Sneakers and gym shorts were the appropriate attire for Saturday’s first CASA of the River Region walk in Oldham County.
    With more than 40 participants offering a $25 donation, Executive Director Kathy Martin said she was pleased with the number of people who opted to walk for the cause of abused and neglected children.

  • Did you know? South Oldham Lions Club's early members funded, built Crestwood school gym

    DID YOU KNOW?

    The forerunner of the South Oldham Lions Club was the South Oldham Community Association which was responsible for the construction of the Crestwood Auditorium – Gymnasium, formerly on the campus of Crestwood Elementary School.
