The award winning Oldham County Parks & Recreation WoodSongs Coffeehouse is the home of “roots music” in Oldham County.

“Roots music” can best be described as an acoustic-oriented style that may include, but is not limited to: bluegrass, country, gospel/spiritual and singer/songwriter.

The WoodSongs Coffeehouse is a family- friendly venue with a close-knit, homey feel where new players and seasoned performers will be given the opportunity to teach and learn from each other through shared experiences.

Musicians of all skill levels are encouraged to come prepared to listen closely and play freely.

The next coffeehouse will take place 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 19 at the John W. Black Community Center.

The following performers are scheduled to play:
• Whiskey Bent Valley Boys
• Lea Cockrell
• Mike Prather
• Water’s Edge
• Thomas McShane
• Bradford/Stephens.

Admission is free and all musicians are invited to bring their instruments for free-form play at the end of the scheduled performances, also known as “beans and greens time.”

La Grange Coffee Roasters and Q&A Sweet Treats will have coffee and cookies for sale.
