BOYS’ BASKETBALL
MARTHA LAYNE COLLINS 75, SOUTH OLDHAM 73
It took an overtime period but Collins High School finally got the best of visiting South Oldham in a battle of Eighth Region favorites, defeating the Dragons 75-73 on a buzzer-beater by Ralphie Stone.
Shae Goodlett was key for South in the paint, contributing 20 points and six rebounds from his center spot.
Michael Haysley was also a big factor for the Dragons, chipping in 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting, while Kyle Young also paced the team with 13 points.

OLDHAM COUNTY 63, MOORE 44
Taking to their home court for the Ronald McDonald Classic, the Oldham County Colonels picked up their third win of the season, dispatching visiting Moore 63-44.
Sam Gruber was the leading scorer for Oldham County with 14 points but the Colonels had several other key contributors as well, including Jacob Kopp and Anthony Lape with 13 a piece.
Lape also added 10 rebounds for a double-double after recording just one board in a 73-55 loss to Christian Academy of Lousville on Dec. 7.
The Colonels return to the court 7:30 p.m. Friday as they take on Trimble County in their first district game of the season.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
 WESTERN 55, NORTH OLDHAM 37
The North Oldham Mustangs started strong in their Dec. 6 game against visiting Western, limiting the Warriors to just 21 first half points. After the break was a different story altogether when  the wheels fell off. Western went on a 34-18 down the strentch to put the game out of reach at 55-37.
Taylor Moore and Rachel Williams were the team’s leading scorers with 8 points apiece but Cat Firitto added 7 points and the team’s only 3-pointer to pace the Mustangs.
North Oldham managed to shoot just 4-of-10 from the free throw line in the loss.
