A new Walmart in Crestwood is one step closer to reality with the completion of the land purchase.

According to deed records, Walmart paid $4.1 million to Oldham Farms Development LLC for two parcels of land on the Highway 329 Bypass, also known as Veterans Memorial Parkway.

Both the Oldham County Planning and Zoning Commission and the Crestwood City Commission approved the site this past spring for a new Walmart SuperCenter.

Walmart spokeswoman Erica Jones declined to provide the full cost of acquiring the land, but did acknowledge the $4.1 million was part of the retail outlet’s costs.

During the zoning approval process, a target date of September was mentioned for a ground-breaking, but Jones said no construction or opening dates for the new store have been finalized.
