Love for children and a long history of volunteerism have prompted the two candidates to run for a seat on the Oldham County Board of Education.
Jennifer Jones is challenging incumbent Doug Obradovich, who was appointed in January to fill the spot vacated by the resignation of longtime board member Linda Theiss.
It is the only contested local election on the Nov. 6 ballot full of mostly statewide elections.
The past nine months have been one of the best experiences of his life, Obradovich, 49, of Centerfield, said.
