Justin Thomas came within two strokes of winning his first professional golf tournament this weekend in Mexico.
The Goshen native shot an 11-under par 277 to finish second at the Web.com Tour El Bosque Mexico Championship at El Bosque GC in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico.
Thomas, whose low round was a 66 Thursday in the first round, finished two strokes off the pace set by Carlos Ortiz, who shot a 13-under par 275 for the tournament.
Thomas, a St. Xavier grad and former All-American at Alabama, finished four shots clear of six golfers who finished tied for third at seven-under.
Thomas has three top 10 finishes this year on the Web.com Tour, which works as a feeder tour for the PGA. He’s currently fifth on the tour’s 2014 money list.
