Students earn certificates

John “Jack” Kempf III from North Oldham High School, Gabrielle Tinebra of South Oldham High School and Andrew Dharamsey from Oldham County High School were among several Oldham County students recently awarded the Certificate of Recognition from the Commonwealth Honors Academy. Eighty-eight students completed the three-week academy at Murray State between June 8 and 29 this past summer.


During the three weeks, Academy scholars took two college-level courses, attended multiple lectures, concerts, field trips and forums and participated in a tri-weekly personal development seminar.  As successful graduates of the Academy, the students will receive six hours of university credit, a $2,000 per year Murray State housing scholarship and the option to take six additional hours from Murray State tuition free.

Other Odlham County students to receive the honor include:  Mark Baker, Anna Gorsick and Bailey Hill from Oldham County High School; Raven Byars of South Oldham High School; and Anabel Unker of North Oldham High School.
