Crestwood ElementaryThird and fourth gradesTeacher: Kimberly FlandersEthanol in motionI think that the very first thing our new president should do is find new fuel sources. If we do and it is cheaper, less people will have to cancel their trips because of gas prices. This summer I wanted to go somewhere on vacation, but gas is too high. If we had an ethanol car we could, but they don’t make very many of those cars. They don’t have many gas pumps with ethanol earthier. I think that we need more ethanol pumps and cars.Did you know that if we switched we could save $.40 per gallon and it is better for the environment because it doesn’t give off as much harmful gas? If we switched we could save hundreds of dollars a year! Plus the environment would be less polluted and the air would be better to breathe. So, I think that the new president should find new fuel sources like ethanol. If we do, we could save money and the environment. So make more cars that run on ethanol.Clayton ReardonDrugs and smokingDrugs, drugs, drugs, Have you ever done drugs or sold drugs? Well if you have, STOP! People all around the world still do drugs and sell drugs and we need to stop. Millions of people are dying from lung cancer and some people can get very sick because they are allergic to smoke. One thing we could do is make laws against drugs and smoking more serious because this is a bad situation and sometimes a sad one. Here, maybe the facts I found will help you. People that are grown-ups who still do drugs have done so since they were teens. That’s why we need more serious laws. The second fact is even 12-year-olds do drugs. The people that disagree with me say even if you try to stop me, I won’t. They are wrong. I think this is a good idea so less people smoke and less people do drugs.Destiney GilliamGas pricesMy family and I were planning a trip to Florida. But guess what, gas prices! Yep, you heard me, gas prices! The high gas prices are the reason I lost my vacation. What am I going to lose next? I guess I will be staying close to home for this vacation. Here is a fact I found on Google. In 1975 it was $1.50 now it’s $4.05 WOW that went up a lot! What’s a kid need every week? You guessed it, an allowance. If gas prices keep going up I won’t have one. I know what you are thinking. I don’t need an allowance. But if I don’t start learning how to manage money what will I do when I am an adult? Spend it on everything I want?I know the gas companies have the right to make as much money as the want. All I am saying is lower the gas prices. You will make the world a better place.Kyle BrownNo-kill sheltersneed fundingDid you know 6-8 MILLION dogs and cats die around the world every year in shelters just because they do not have a home? Millions of animals are getting killed and they did not even do anything. My mom and I were driving down the highway one evening and saw a beautiful black and white collie chowing down on a deer carcass because she did not have any food. “What was I supposed to do?” I thought. “Take her to the shelter were they will kill her?” It’s not her fault she was dumped on the highway. I want the president to make a law saying; ALL shelters should become NO KILL SHELTERS!You know animals have a certain time limit in the shelters. If they have not gotten a home and if it is past their time they will have to put them down because other animals have to come in.I know what you might think, our tax money should go in other places BUT you know what the world would be with without animals? It would be a tragedy. I think it would be very lonely.Mr. / Mrs. President, I want YOU to send money to the local shelters and want you to make it a law of NO KILL SHELTERS.Macy ReynoldsGo away, graffitiI think that the very first thing our new president should do when he gets into office isee STOP GRAFFITI!! Graffiti is an act of vandalism! It should not be allowed! The most popular places for graffiti are public places. I’ve seen bad words and graffiti in parks for little kids where I’ve played before. It makes me feel like I never want to go there again! Our taxpayer dollars are spent on removing graffiti from public buildings, monuments, and park structures. My point is, we shouldn’t need to remove graffiti because there shouldn’t be any graffiti to be removed. It is a shame that people don’t do anything about their children reading and thinking about graffiti. There should be a law that says “No graffiti in the USA allowed!”Megan Grubb
