Storm water costs will trickle down

Oldham County’s burden to pay for an environmental protection program known as the “mother of all mandates” will carry over to homeowners’ bills before the close of 2008. For the past five years, fiscal court has paid out-of-pocket to prepare a federally-mandated program designed to prevent pollution in local creek beds and streams. While county officials struggle to bring Oldham County Fiscal Court out of a $3 million budget deficit in 2008, the cost to run the program is expected to result in a utility fee ranging between $40 and $50 for homeowners.
