It's been a big week for South Oldham High School basketball. On Monday, the Lady Dragons clinched the top seed in the district tournament with a decisive victory at Trimble County, while the Dragons did likewise Tuesday with a win at North Oldham.
The Lady Dragons might have the best chance of returning to the Girls' Sweet 16 for the first time since 1998, this season. There's a few reasons why, including a superstar whom the team rallies around.

Congratulations to North Oldham Middle School wrestling, which took fourth place at Saturday's state duals meet at John Hardin High School in Elizabethtown.
The finish was the best team finish for NOMS, which advanced to the state meet for the second year.
Oldham County High School also competed at the state high school duals meet at Henry Clay High School, but failed to place. Only the top eight teams are awarded a place.
Saturday, the La Grange Urban Short Track Series completed its sixth race of the eight-race series. As has been the case each race, this edition had a few obstacles, from the course and the environment.
There's also a change to look for from one of the series' top bikers. He'll be making the move during the next race Feb. 11, which will include biking through The Oldham Era's offices.
This week's top notch performer is St. Aloysius School first-grader Bella Deyoung, who competes in Tae Kwon Do at Kentucky Tae Kwon Do in Crestwood.
I'm still working on lining up this week's guest, but hope to do so this afternoon. I'll announce the time and guest for tomorrow on my Facebook page: The Oldham Era's Sports Guy.
