My daughter, Claire, had her first swim meet Monday.The last time I wrote about her she was 5 and entering her first day of kindergarten.Like that day, her first official sporting event as a member of a team was a big occasion for her, my wife Julie and I.Claire, now 8 years old and as sassy as ever, is a member of the Lakeside Swim Club Quarry Gators.I am pleased as punch to say she did well. She took third in her 25-meter freestyle race, third in her 25-meter backstroke race and her freestyle relay team was third.They take their swimming pretty serious at Lakeside.
