Lady Dragons set to host holiday tournament

The 2008 South Oldham Lady Dragons Holiday Hoopfest opens today, (Thursday), with seven teams coming in to battle with SOHS for the tourney title.

The Lady Dragons are the defending champions. Comprising the rest of this year’s field are Whitefield Academy, Franklin County, Seneca, Moore, Southern, Doss and Jeffersontown.

Franklin County would appear to be the early favorite with a 3-1 record and will open the tourney at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday),  against Seneca. That game will be followed by Moore vs. Southern.

The Lady Dragons will play Whitefield Academy at 8:15 p.m. Friday. Doss and J-town will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Play starts at 3 p.m. Saturday and continues all day and again at 3 p.m. Monday.

NOHS, SOHS in Gaslight tourney at J-town

The SOHS and North Oldham boys’ teams will both participate in the always strong Gaslight Tournament at Jeffersontown High School over the holiday break.

SOHS will play Mt. Lebanon, one of the Pittsburgh area’s better teams at 5 p.m. Dec. 28.

NOHS will take on defending Third Region champion Owensboro at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 28.

Also included in the strong field are host J-town, ranked No. 2 in the state, along with Waggener, Ninth Region power Covington Catholic and Third Region pre-season favorite Muhlenberg North.
