South Oldham Rotary honors students of the month

The South Oldham Rotary Club honored the January Students of the Month at its regular meeting Jan. 11. A framed certificate was presented by Vocational Services Director John Oliva. Lauren Elizabeth Jones is a senior at South Oldham High School and plans to become a pediatrician in her own practice after graduating from Austin Peay State University and obtaining a biology degree in pre-medicine. Jones received a full basketball scholarship from the Clarksville, Tenn., university. At SOHS, Jones is involved in with the Beta Club, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, peer mentoring, news cast, is senior class historian, a member of the senior advisory board and the senior leadership board. Her extracurricular interests include basketball, photography and writing. Rebecca Lee Willis is a senior at SOHS and attends the Oldham County Career Center in the health sciences department. Willis plans to attend Bellarmine University or the University of Louisville and earn a bachelor degree in nursing, then obtain a master’s degree in order to become a family nurse practitioner. Health Occupations Students of America and the Spirit Club are Willis’ activities at SOHS. Her extracurricular activities include working, reading and spending time with family and friends.
