South Oldham girls fall short against Jeffersontown

-A A +A

By Billy Rutledge
South Oldham's game Dec. 11 was a long one for the Lady Dragons as they fell to a tough Jeffersonville team 59-51. Trailing the whole game, the Indiana team started to pull away in the fourth quarter and ultimately went back to their home state with a win.
A close game the entire way, the dragons were never able to lead as it took them four and a half minutes to put their first points on the board. The Dragons were able to tie the game late in the fourth but were never able to get over that hump. The game ended with Jeffersonville shooting free throws the rest of the way to extend the Lady Dragons losing streak to 5 games.
After the Lady Dragons graduated their entire starting lineup last year, several younger players, with little experience, have been stepping up to fill their positions. Sophomore guards Sydney Jones and Abby Van Zant are key factors in the Dragons district hopes along with Senior Kenzie Beaudrie and injured Junior Emma Sedoris. Jones tossed up 12 points while Senior Corrine Sanford led the way in scoring with 14.
The Dragons next face Simon Kenton on Dec. 15. First year head coach Christy Higdon will be looking for her first win as the young Dragons are halfway through regular season play.
