South, Oldham gain post-season honors

 LOUISVILLE –  Post-season honors have come in for the Oldham County and South Oldham football teams.

Both squads had several players honored by the Greater Louisville coaches group and the Kentucky Football Coaches group led by OCHS’ Brandon Cook and Jake Wiegel. The seniors were selected as the district defensive and special teams players of the year respectively by the state coaches group.

OCHS head coach Matt Brown was selected as the district Coach of the Year after guiding the Colonels to the district title and an 8-4 record. OCHS was ranked as high as No. 6 in 5A and reached the regional finals.

OCHS’ picks were also highlighted by two-way selections Tyler Oldham at fullback and lineback and Derek Lewis on the offensive and defensive line.

Oldham, a junior, rushed for 564 yards on 96 carries with seven touchdowns. 

He also caught 16 passes for 234 yards and a touchdown.

Other first team picks for OCHS were linebackers Kirk Yepko and Dylan Sims, center Austin Fletcher, tailback Brett Leary and defensive back Antonio Brown-Campbell.

SOHS lineman Brandon Bramer was a two-way pick while punter Christian Wallace, defensive guard Jon Derringer and place kicker Justus Kellond were also first team picks.
