Though the North Oldham and Oldham County boys' soccer teams will technically square off in the last district game of the season Wednesday night, the race for the No. 1 tournament seed was all but decided last weekend as a scrappy South Oldham upended the Mustangs 4-1.

That will mean a lot for the Dragons as the title of district's team will earn them a slot in the regional tournament regardless of what happens in mid-October.

Davis Ferriell had arguable the biggest performance of the game for South, getting the job done by both scoring and distributing the ball with a goal and two assists but Trent Howard wasn't half bad either, chipping in a goal and an assist of his own.

Skylar Heinstein and Christian Lister added the other two goals for the Dragons. Matt Dombrosky was the lone goal scorer for North Oldham.

The Dragons close the season with a tough stretch, traveling to Trinity tonight for a 7 p.m. showdown with the Shamrocks before hosting Eastern and Manual in back-to-back games during the South Oldham Invitational on Monday. From there, they'll close out the regular season with a game against Elizabethtown on Oct. 4.

North Oldham will finish play in the Bulldog Cup on Saturday, taking on host Male in a 10:45 game, before traveling to Buckner on Wednesday for a showdown with Oldham County. From there, they'll host Collins at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday and close the regular season on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. against Spencer County.
