Dragons headed to the regional finals for first time since '89

South Oldham's Casey Jackson hit two of three free throws with four-tenths of a second left to give the Dragons a 63-61 win over Gallatin County Monday in the Eighth Region semi finals.

Jackson was fouled on a three-point attempt after missing an off-balance three-point attempt from the left wing,

The winning free throws ended a long night for the Dragons who fell behind 17-2 to open the game. SOHS regained the lead at the opening of the second half only to see Gallatin come back to take a six-point lead,

Using a 1-3-1 zone trap on defense, the Dragons came back to take the lead on three-pointer from Cory Dogan with 4:48 left in the game.

Brice Jewett led the Dragons with 16 points. Chris Schumm and Carson Fields each scored 12.

The teams traded leads until Jackson's free throws. The win puts the Dragons in the region finals for the first time since 1989. SOHS will play the winner of the Shelby County/Owen County game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
