On a cold and rainy evening, the South Oldham Dragons lost to the Shelby County Rockets 33-21. The scoreboard tells a different story then what happened on Senior Night for the Dragons though.

The Rockets scored first with a laser pass from quarterback Zack Shipley to Michael Barry. The PAT would be blocked by South Oldham. The Dragons would counter less than a minute later with senior Jack Sherry hooking up with another senior, Dallas Banks, who would take it the distance from 90 yards out.

Shelby County would tie the game up in the second quarter with a gutsy play call from coach Todd Shipley, using a fake punt and giving Malik Manica the direct snap. Manica would run like a maniac, beating South Oldham in a 50 yard sprint. The Dragons would use their own trickery as well though, scoring on a reverse from Shelby County’s 35 yard line to take the lead.

South Oldham's defense held just fine in the first half - in part due to a two interception performance from Steven Jones - enetring the break with a 21-14 lead.

That wall crashed for South Oldham in the second half though as they would give up 19 unanswered points to close the game.

This was South Oldham’s last regular season game as  they go onto play West Jessamine in the Class 5A Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl on Nov. 2. The game will be at South Oldham, with kickoff time yet to be announced.
