Oldham County Schools may become more energy-efficient if new policies are enacted Monday.

The Oldham County Board of Education is considering an energy conservation policy that includes setting room thermostats to 72 degrees in the winter and 74 degrees when air-conditioned and dropping building temperatures to 55 degrees in unoccupied buildings during the winter, and shutting off air conditioners during summer break.

The policy also stipulates water temperature levels, acceptable lighting and directs that personnel shut off all electronic items when not in use.

The board meets Monday.
