School board faces tight budget

The Oldham County Board of Education approved a nearly $100 million tentative budget Monday night, and that’s with several cutbacks, including elimination of four non-teacher jobs.The revenue stream this year is projected at about $2 million more than last year, but expenses are projected to increase by about $3 million with salary increases, diesel fuel and technology maintenance constituting a large portion of the increase, school board director of communication Rebecca DeSensi said.“We had to find $1 million somewhere,” Superintendent Paul Upchurch said.One of the major
