Rotary installs officers

The South Oldham Rotary Club recently hosted an installation banquet at Yew Dell Gardens. The club’s officers for 2009-10 are: John Longstreet, vocational director; Janette Chapman, membership director; Ed Kalmey, international director; Gary Hardy, foundation director; Sarah McClellan, sergeant-at-arms; Ron Winters, president; David Bond, vice president; Jim Hughey, secretary; Ron Colyer, sergeant-at-arms; Zach Spencer, club service director; Fariba Muhlheizler, community service; Cindy Hack, public relations co-director; and Kevin Parker, public relations co-director; Patty Klosterman, treasurer; and Michael Logsdon, sergeant at arms.

Mac McWilliams received the Community Service award from last year’s recipient, Roger Hack. This award is presented to a club member demonstrating overall community involvement and contributes time and leadership in causes throughout the community. 

Kevin Parker, was presented the Rotarian of the Year award by last year’s recipient, Cindy Hack. This award is presented to a club member that has demonstrated an outstanding level of commitment and involvement in the four avenues of Rotary service. Both awards are determined by the club members and outgoing officers.

Additional honorees were Ron Winters and Marilyn Colyer, right. Both Winters and Colyer obtained the Paul Harris Fellowship. People that have donated $1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, Polio Plus, or the Humanitarian Grants Program, or people who have that amount contributed in their name are recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. 

The South Oldham Rotary Club, chartered in 1994, has a diverse and high-energy membership that enjoys the fellowship and service that comes with being a Rotarian. The group supports local, national and international causes. Meetings are 7:30 a.m. Fridays at the Oldham County Arts Center in Crestwood. Visitors are welcome.
