Come to a Rain Garden Workshop on Saturday, March 29, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Oldham County Cooperative Extension office. Learn how to build a rain garden in your yard. Rain gardens are a way of using plants and soil to hold storm water runoff from your roof, yard, or surrounding pavement. On the surface, the garden looks like a beautiful landscaped bed. Under the surface, plant roots are soaking up rain and releasing it into the air through their leaves. Two rain garden experts will deliver an in-class lesson on how to build and maintain your rain garden. A tour of three local rain gardens will follow the class. Lunch is included. There is no fee for the workshop. The workshop is hosted by Oldham County Cooperative Extension and the Curry’s Fork Watershed Project.
