On 25 acres in the middle of a city sits a pond, wooded area and homes for several different species of animals. It’s hidden off U.S. 42, just a moment’s drive from Prospect City Hall, and though it was going to be used for development, the city has purchased the land for preservation.
The city of Prospect recently purchased Putney Pond and the surrounding woodlands with the help of a grant from the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund. Grant money covered about half of the $707,000 price tag.
