Police report no issues with Ironman

-A A +A

On August 25, 2013 the annual Ironman event was once again held and was a smooth successful event. The Oldham County Police received no reports of vandalism or Criminal Mischief and made no arrests in conjunction with the event. The Ironman and the Louisville Sports Commission were very accommodating in the planning, preparation and execution of the event.

A large portion of the bicycle course is in Oldham County. Agencies involved in the Oldham County portion of the event were the Oldham County Police, Oldham County Central Dispatch, LaGrange Police Department, Oldham County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Highway Department, Kentucky National Guard and the Kentucky State Police. We would also like to thank the Louisville Metro Police Department for providing observation from their air unit and the Kentucky State Police for their use of an explosive detective canine.

Additionally we would like to thank the volunteers that supported the event and in particular Cornerstone Family Christian Church.

We appreciate the community’s patience in dealing heavy traffic congestion during the event. Each year traffic plans are reviewed for any possible improvements with safety being paramount in their creation.

Any constructive suggestions will be considered for the planning of next year’s event.

The Ironman event gives Oldham County a unique way to showcase Oldham County and its citizens in a positive manner.
