A Crestwood man discovered his wife’s body floating in a pond behind their home about 9:30 a.m. June 26 on Glenarm Road.

Police believe Margaret Mary “Maggie” Stonebrook, 46, drowned after falling face-first into a pond adjacent to their property in the 4800 block of Glenarm Road. According to police, Stonebrook wore a nightgown at the time of her death.

Her husband, James “Stony” Stonebrook, told police he went to bed alone about 9:30 p.m., and when he awoke the next morning to an empty house, he started searching for his wife, police said.

Investigators took the body to the state medical examiner’s office in Louisville for an autopsy.

Oldham County Police Lt. Col. Billy Way said an investigation into Stonebrook’s death is pending, although autopsy results may not be available for several weeks.
