An oversight by La Grange Mayor Bill Lammlein has cost the city more than $12,000.
An ordinance passed by city council to increase employee contributions to the city’s health insurance plan was to go into effect in September 2012.
But the change was never implemented.
City employees continue to pay 5 percent of the cost of their insurance, rather than the 10 percent that was supposed to be taken from their pay starting in the fall.
Reducing the city’s share from 95 percent to 90 percent was supposed to save money for the cash-strapped city.
