Austin Norman finishes with home run, 5 RBI

By Greg Waddell

It didn’t take long for the flood gates to open in Monday night’s district opener between Oldham and Trimble counties, but once it did, it was all OC as the Colonels piled on 12 hits to roll 13-0.
Following an RBI single from Cam Thomas and a walk from Sean Holton, Austin Norman broke the game open, lifting a fast ball over the fence for a three-run bomb.
That wouldn’t be all though as Ross Gowing kept the Colonels rolling in the second inning, driving home Kyle Young with an RBI double. Thomas returned the favor in his next at-bat, plating Gowing on another two-bagger.
After Norman added two more on a single, Lance Vialpando and Zach Bobbitt got in on the action, hitting back-to-back RBI doubles to bring the score to 10-0.
The Colonels added three more over the next two innings to end the game.
OC returns to the field 5 p.m. Friday as they host Henry County.
