Taking to Bell Field Friday night in their season opener, the Oldham County Colonels made sure they came out firing in Week 0, routing Atherton 55-0.

It didn't take long to get out of hand as OC grabbed a quick lead on their first possession and never looked back, coasting to a 35-0 halftime lead. Senior Addison Deckard got things started less that five minutes into the game, reeling off a 20-yard touchdown scamper for the Colonels first score of the 2012 season. It certainly wouldn't be the last though.

Chris Caudill made sure of that just five minutes later, picking up another 37 yard touchdown run. He nearly added another on the next possession but a holding call negated a 46 yard touchdown.

From there, Jacob Taylor added a 63 yard score on the ground and Brett Strnad hooked up with Elijah Keen through the air to push the lead to 28-0. Caudill added one more touchdown on a 20 yard interception return at the 6:36 mark to close scoring in the half.

Taylor and Strnad each added another touchdown in the the third quarter before turning over the reins to the junior varsity team.

That wouldn't be the end of the scoring however, as junior quarterback Ryan Gratton made sure to get his name in the scorebooks as well, dropping a screen pass to Chandler Besser, who rumbled 43 yards to paydirt.

The Colonels will now turn their sights to next week in preparation for rival North Oldham Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at North Oldham. The Mustangs were the winners in the teams' last meeting as North edged Oldham County 31-20.
