Oldham County girls win Spring Break Classic

OLDHAM CO. 10, BRACKEN CO. 1
Fresh off knocking out No. 3 Ballard, Oldham County started spring break with a bang Friday night, claiming an 11-1 win over Bracken County in the opening game of pool play in their Spring Break Classic.
After putting just one run on the board in the top half of the first inning, the Lady Colonels’ offense exploded in the second inning, plating six runs and coasting from there.
They went on to add four more runs, ending the game after only four innings.

OLDHAM CO. 10, WARREN EAST 3
Oldham County kept the ball rolling in Friday’s nightcap, making short work of Warren East to win Pool A, 10-3.
The Lady Colonels jumped on Warren East in the game’s opening inning, piling on three runs to claim control, and from there it was smooth sailing as they added seven more to put the game way.
Warren East rallied for three in the last inning, but by then it was over.
Jessica Leanhart, K.K. Rigdon and Rayne Shelton picked up doubles, while Rebecca Wishnevski added a triple.

OLDHAM CO. 6, OLeNGANGY, OH 0
Oldham County’s first matchup Saturday morning didn’t go as smoothly as Friday, but the results were all the same as the Lady Colonels rolled past Olengangny, Ohio, 6-0.
After playing even with Olengagny for three innings, OC opened things on in the fourth, grabbing a run and never looking back.
They went on to add five more runs before all was said and done.

OLDHAM CO.  10, PICKERTON, OH 4
In their second game, Oldham County returned to form against Pickerton, Ohio, exploding out of the gates with a three-run first inning to propel them to the championship game.
Pickerton rallied to tie the score in the bottom of the third, but that’s as close as they got, eventually falling 10-4.
A trio of Lady Colonels did damage with their bats as Jessica Leanhart, Cynthia Leaton and Rayne Shelton recorded doubles.

The Lady Colonels got their toughest test in the championship game but the results were the same as they withstood a late rally by Jackson to claim a 6-4 win and their third Spring Break Classic championship in a row.
K.K. Rigdon notched a double for Oldham County, while Jessica Leanhart recorded her eighth win of the season on the mound.
