After last week’s 37-6 win against Fern Creek, Oldham County entered last night’s game with plenty of momentum. That would be short lived however as Eastern dealt the visiting Colonels a devastating 51-7 loss.
The scoring started out quickly for Eastern, going up 7-0 in just under three minutes and continued throughout the first half, with the Eagles piling on 16 more points before halftime to lead 23-0.
Eastern would continue to take advantage of the Colonels defense after the break as Cody Wolfe connected with Shane Fields from 30 yards out to make the score 30-0.
The lone bright spot for the Colonels evening came shortly afterwards as Jacob Taylor took a handoff from Brett Strnad and left the Eagles in the dust, rambling off a 66-yard touchdown run. With the score at 30-7, the touchdown looked like it might just spark a comeback by the Colonels, but Eastern was just too strong and fast.
The Eagles would seal the game with a 2-yard rush from Aaron Nix to put them ahead 37-7 with just under four minutes left in the 3rd quarter and from there it was history as they added another 14 before all was said and done.
The Colonels go on to face Ballard next week at Oldham County’s Bell Stadium where they are 2-2 on their home turf. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
