The speedway created the friendly competition to thank regional law enforcement for efforts toward making the venue’s race events successful in addition to officers’ year-round public safety initiatives.

“Sixteen officers representing the City of Cincinnati, Butler Co., Ohio, Hamilton Co., Ohio, City of Florence, Ky., City of Lexington, Ky., Gallatin Co., Ky., Oldham Co. Ky., and the Kentucky State Police drove RPDE cars for six laps. Two-officer teams that generated the fastest cumulative time determined the three highest-ranking eligible to race for individual Top Cop honors.”

“Chief Greg Smith and Officer Sarah King captured the team title with a 9:06.82 and also earned event tickets to donate. Officer Sarah King was the fastest participant among 16 contestants.”

The competition was the first time either attempted to drive a stock car.

The Kentucky Speedway awarded tickets for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kentucky 300 on September 21, 2013, to the Oldham County Police for their effort and performance in the competition.

The Oldham County Police will donate the tickets to deserving families in the community.

Oldham County Police would like to thank the Kentucky Speedway for the donated tickets and a great experience.
