The Oldham County boys’ soccer team cruised to a 3-0 victory over the North Oldham Mustangs and ended their season Monday night.
Dominating shots on target, possession and goals, the Colonels made a statement that they deserve the district title more than any other team.
Freshman Jonathan Huerta was the first to put a goal onto the scoreboard 10 minutes into the game. After another 10 minutes, senior captain Jared Kemper rocketed the ball into the upper net and put the Colonels in the driver seat.
From there, great defense from Kemper and the supporting cast was too much for the Mustangs to overcome.
A deflated Mustang team did very little in the second half to oppose the dominance of the Colonels and gave up a final goal with only a minute left to junior Brendan Scott.
The Colonels faced bitter rivals, the South Oldham Dragons, after press time, however, coverage is available online at oldhamera.com.
The teams split their two previous meetings this season.
