Traveling to Atherton Friday night, the North Oldham Mustangs picked up their second district win after routing the host Rebels 53-7.
Atherton did manage to hang with North for the first 12 minutes, ending the first quarter down only 13-7, but it got ugly from there as the Mustangs hung 40 unanswered points on their district foes.
North didn’t just win though, they dominated, limiting Atherton to only 12 yards of total offense on the night with no first downs, while picking up 443 yards of their own.
Quarterback Keenan Dowd was a big part of that, connecting on 5-of-8 passes for 117 and two touchdowns. Michael Choe and Jake Evans were the biggest beneficiaries, hauling in a touchdown each.
On the ground, the Mustangs were equally deadly with 326 rushing yards and seven touchdowns.
Jake Evans led the way with 78 yards and two scores on nine carries, while Quentin Shea added two touchdowns and 43 yards of his own. Josh Smith and Keenan Dowd also each added a rushing touchdown as Smith finished with 42 yards on five carries and Dowd added 44 yards on seven touches. Arien Beasley also contributed with 46 yards on seven carries.
With the win, North improves to 2-1 in district play. They’ll square off with Spencer County in the district finale this week, traveling to Spencer County for a 7:30 p.m. kick off.
