North Oldham Middle School teacher Keely Green was honored Sept. 25 at a school assembly for being named the Kentucky History Teacher of the Year by Preserve America and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
Judges were impressed by her ability to make history interesting and challenging and by her background in history, said Rebecca Hanley, state coordinator for the award.
Green earned master’s degrees in teaching and in history.
Green will receive a $1,000 prize and will be in the running for National History Teacher of the Year.
