North Oldham High School will not start classes Wednesday with the rest of the Oldham County school district, Superintendent Paul Upchurch decided Monday.

Upchurch said the school will not be ready for occupancy, citing safety and security concerns.

District officials were optimistic the building would be ready — while not finished — by Wednesday. But the opposite was apparent Monday, Upchurch said.

School will begin Aug. 18 for North Oldham High students. Students will make up the three lost days, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 26, Jan. 2 and Feb. 16.
