North Oldham has turned to an assistant to lead its boys basketball program.

Rob Burton has been hired as the Mustangs' head coach, athletic director Alan Yanke announced Wednesday afternoon.

Burton replaces Chris Stobaugh, who wasn't retained after two years as North's head coach. Stobaugh went 29-28 over two seasons, including an 11-17 mark in 2013-14.

“We believe Rob can bring stability to our program and will do a tremendous job in helping mold our student athletes into highly competitive players and tremendous young men,” Yanke said in a release.

Burton has spent the last six years at North as assistant head coach, head JV coach and freshman basketball coach for the Mustangs.

He's also been a major operator of the Hoops Basketball Academy and has helped coach various AAU teams, per the release.
