Oldham County Judge-Executive David Voegele has signed off on a new contract to haul away the county’s recyclable materials.

A two-year contract with Republic Services Corporation began Friday. The company will haul recyclables that residents drop into self-serve containers at the Oldham County Recycling Center in Buckner.

The county will pay Republic Services $195 each time the containers are emptied.

Magistrate Kevin Eldridge, chair of the utilities committee, said if the recycling center takes in the same amount of materials this year as it did last year, the new contract will mean a savings of $6,720 for the county.
