Building permit from 2009 leads to criminal complaint; property owner cleared of forgery charge after lengthy legal process

Residents of Barrickman Lane have learned a lot of lessons lately, thanks to a barn, a lawsuit and a lot of confusion.

At the heart of the issue is the two-story duplex-style barn at 2900 Barrickman Lane in Goshen.

In 2009, Gay Robertson filed for a building permit to construct a $90,000 structure on property zoned AG-1. Robertson also filed for a farm exemption, which excused her from typical planning & zoning fees, which would have totaled almost $500.
