Five Forks Drive in Pewee Valley has spent the last 40 years as a crumbling, privately-owned, pothole-laden path.
The road’s northern extension is littered with gravel and moldering asphalt, and large slabs of topcoat have worn away to expose a disintegrating foundation.
Five Forks and the surrounding development were built in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the county’s planning and zoning committee was in its infancy. Shortly thereafter, the developer of Five Forks went bankrupt and left the road unfinished and in the hands of homeowners.
