The chair of the county’s Republican Party is under fire and a local official has requested she be removed from office.
Pewee Valley resident JD Sparks, a Republican recently elected to serve as an Oldham County magistrate, has requested that Oldham County GOP Chair Anne Gernstein be removed from office.
In a letter filed with the 4th District Republican Party Chair and the State Republican Party on Friday, Sparks said Gernstein has acted in malfeasance in her capacity as the county chair and has severely damaged the reputation of the county’s Republican party.
Despite rumors of the contrary, Gernstein has told The Oldham Era repeatedly in recent weeks that she has no plans to resign.
Sparks said the party has experienced a mass withdrawal of support and participation as non-partisan political clubs are growing in strength, and has asked that Gernstein be replaced by the GOP’s vice chair.
