Today (Thursday), Oldham County History Center educator Jan Jasper will kick off the first of a series of lectures for Oldham County History Center volunteers and others interested in the topics about the collections, genealogy research and exhibits at the archives and museum. These lectures are being given in conjunction with the history center’s current exhibit: Primary Docs: The Museum Collection.
The first lecture is called “How Things are Made and How They Deterioate.”
Jasper recently completed an archival course sponsored by the American Association of Museums on collection care. She will have archival examples on hand for viewing and discuss how the museum takes care of its collections and how you can take care of your own personal family history items.
The series will take place on the first Thursday of each month and in the Rob Morris Chapel Educational Building on the history center grounds. Classes are free but registration is required. Light refreshments will be served- participants are encouraged to bring their own “brown bag” lunch. Call 222-0826 for information or to register.
