When looking for a permanent spot for a settlement along the Kentucky frontier, pioneer adventurer and explorer Squire Boone selected what he thought was one of the prettiest locations in the world, Shelby County.
More specifically, he intended to build a fort along the banks of Clear Creek. He did so in 1779/1780. What he didn’t count on were the increasing hostile actions of Native Americans and the effects of the Revolutionary War on this small, isolated wilderness in America.
