Local student named state Geographic Bee semifinalist

Mark Scherer, a seventh-grader at North Oldham Middle School was recently named a semifinalist in the Kentucky Geographic Bee by the National Geographic Society. The bee will take place April 9 at the Knicely Economic Center in Bowling Green.

The winner will receive $100, the “National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World” and a trip to Washington, D.C. to represent Kentucky in the national finals.

Scherer is the son of Randy and Beth Scherer.
