Runners from Centerfield Elementary, Harmony Elementary, South Oldham Middle, East Oldham Middle, Oldham County Middle and North Oldham Middle competed in the Eighth Annual Coaches Cross Country National Youth Championship in Terre Haute, Ind. on Dec. 1.
The local athletes joined with other runners as members of the Kentucky Stampede running club team that took over 40 athletes to the meet. The 13- and 14-year-old girls team brought home the third place trophy. Running in that meet representing Stampede from Oldham County include Haley Webb, Clara Lynch and Riley Glenn.
The 11- and 12-year-old girls had the top 10 finishers with two from Oldham county as well. They were Katy Chapman in eighth place and Anna Constant in ninth place. Other runners from Oldham County were Elana Aldridge, Lauren Turner, Ayden Quiram, William Mosier, Lily Forseth and Alex McClarty and Sammy Griffin. Aldridge from Centerfield placed 11th in the 6-year-old division while Ayden Quiram was 61st in the 10-year-old division and Forseth from East Oldham was 41st in the 11-year-old girls.
Several other runners, including the state champions from Goshen Elementary traveled with Derby City to Rock Hill, S.C. for the AAU National Meet.
Fifth graders Riggs Hardy and Jack Fischer placed fifth and 14th, respectively, in the nation for their age group
Third graders Rollins Hardy and Colin Murphy placed third and 16th, respectively, in the nation for their age group.
