PROSPECT – Eight riders from Zubrod Stables in Prospect participated in the National Academy Saddlebred Finals at the Miller Coliseum in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Nov. 3-4. Several riders took top national honors under the instruction of Sarah Kernen Tompkins of Goshen and Cindy Zubrod of Prospect. The Academy National Finals is a highly competitive show in which riders must qualify through two rounds to advance to the national final rounds. Sarah Tumm was the Grand Champion in the Senior Walk Trot Canter Equitation National final for 13-17 year-olds. This is the fifth consecutive year that Tompkins’ riders have taken first place in this class. Besides splitting the winnings of $1,500 with the top 10 riders in the division, Tumm won several other prizes including a $1,000 scholarship to William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. Tumm also advanced in the Senior Pleasure WTC class finishing third in this division and she was the champion in three of her qualifying rounds. Tumm is the daughter of Jeff and Connie Tumm of Prospect. She is a freshman at North Oldham High School.B.J. Beliveau of Louisville was the Grand Champion in the Adult Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation class. Beliveau also advanced and qualified in the top 10 for Adult Walk/Trot/Canter/ Pleasure National Finals finishing in third place. She was the Reserve Champion in three of her qualifying rounds. Lauren Oliver qualified in the Top 10 for both the Equitation Walk/Trot National Finals and the Pleasure Walk/Trot National Finals. She took third place in the Senior Equitation Walk/Trot National Finals and fourth place in the Senior Pleasure Walk/Trot National Finals. She is the daughter of Dennis and Karen Oliver of Crestwood.Christin Smith qualified for the Equitation Walk/Trot/Canter National Final finishing in the top 10. She also qualified and advanced to the final in the Pleasure Walk/Trot/Canter class in the 13-17 year-old division. Smith is the daughter of Greg and Beth Smith of Goshen and is a freshman at North Oldham High School. Olivia Mattingly qualified in the top 10 of the Pleasure Walk/Trot National Finals, finishing sixth after a unanimous first place ribbon in the qualifying round. She competed in the 9-12 year-old age group and is the daughter of Dennis and Leslie Mattingly of Prospect. She attends Walden School. Paige Russell finished in the top 10 of the Pleasure Walk/Trot National Finals taking the fourth place ribbon in the 5-6 year-old age group. Russell is the daughter of Doug and Debbie Russell of Louisville and attends first grade at Stopher Elementary School. Isabelle von Busch qualified in the top 10 of both the Pleasure Walk/Trot National Final and Equitation Walk/Trot National Finals in the 7-8 year-old division and she was champion and reserve champion in her qualifying rounds. She is the daughter of Dale and Kristee von Busch. Anna Leigh Amrein qualified in the top 10 of the Equitation Walk/Trot National finals finishing ninth in the 9-10 year-old division. She is the daughter of Jeff and Tyra Amrein of Prospect.
